On May 2nd, my wife and I had the incredible opportunity to attend Kathy Mattea's concert at The Gichi-Ziibi Center for the Arts in Brainerd, MN. Sitting in the front row, right side of the stage, I could feel the warmth and energy of the crowd, which made the atmosphere in the theater truly electric.
Kathy Mattea's heartfelt stories about her songs and her engaging discussions with the audience added a personal touch to the concert. She appreciated the audience's presence and shared many memorable moments with us. One of the standout performances was "Ready for the Storm," which she humorously mentioned was a free song not included in the price of the ticket. This song was beautifully executed and a great addition to the concert.Throughout the night, Kathy played all of her hits, including "Time Passes By," "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses," and "Quarter Moon." As an encore, she performed "Harley," which was a perfect way to end the evening. My favorite songs from the night were "Where Have You Been," which brought tears to my eyes, "455 Rocket," and "Love at the Five and Dime."One memorable moment was when I was about to respond to Kathy about "Ready for the Storm" being a great song worth the price of admission alone. Her connection with the audience made the concert feel intimate and special.
